Maintenance Electrician

The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for carrying out preventative maintenance on specific equipment and installing new equipment, when necessary.

Status: Full time, Permanent
Hours of work: 42 hours per week, four shift pattern (2 x 12 hour days, 2 x 12 hour nights, 4 rest days)
Salary: Competitive + shift allowance

Main tasks will include:

  • Performing planned and preventative electrical maintenance on equipment, as directed
  • Working with minimum supervision on allotted tasks, within nationally recognised regulations and company procedures
  • Producing diagrams for communication purposes, explaining problems and suggestions for repair
  • Performing other tasks related to the work of the Maintenance department, as directed by the Electrical Engineering Manager
  • Instructing trainees, when necessary
  • Keeping areas of work in a clean and tidy condition
  • Ensuring safe working practices are understood and adhered to
  • Ensuring that logs are kept of shift activities, locations and planned maintenance activities, and that job cards are completed

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A sound knowledge of the IEE regulations and electrical supply regulations
  • An understanding of safe working practices
  • An understanding of the engineering database system for our planned maintenance and logging of shift activities
  • An ability to design simple electrical systems and draw schematic diagrams for practical use
  • An understanding of how to use universal and company measuring instruments
  • An understanding of the working and construction of DC/AC machines
  • An understanding of mechanical systems including servo-controlled equipment, hydraulics and pneumatics
  • An ability to design and manufacture electrical control panels
  • An understanding of National and International codes and symbols used on drawings and specifications
