Mobile Fleet Technician x2

The Mobile Fleet Reliability Technician reports directly into the Mobile Fleet Reliability Coordinator, on a day-to-day basis. The role sits within the Mechanical Engineering Department.

Status: Full-time, Permanent
Hours of Work: 42 hours per week (Week 1: working 8:00-16.30 Monday-Thursday, 8:00-16:00 Friday. Week 2: 9:00-17:30 Monday-Thursday, 9:00-17:00 Friday)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Main tasks will include:

  • Ensuring the mobile fleet vehicles are repaired, serviced and maintained, as per the manufacturer's service and repair standards
  • Ensuring all vehicles and workshop equipment are maintained adequately and are in good, safe operational condition at all times
  • Maintaining accurate records of all mobile plant assets, using the company CMMS system to collect relevant data related to mobile fleet availability and breakdowns
  • Working with the Mobile Fleet Reliability Coordinator to develop and plan fleet servicing and breakdown repair
  • Investigating root causes of mobile fleet breakdowns and implementing corrective actions
  • Obtaining quotes to carry out necessary works
  • Assisting EHS with mobile fleet related incident and accident investigation, ensuring that all mobile fleet and equipment complies with the latest legislation requirements

The successful candidate will need:

  • A sound background in mechanical FLT repairs and servicing
  • Good knowledge of FLT’s, ideally gained through a formal apprenticeship (including practical and theoretical application and structured additional learning)
  • Established skills in service, maintenance and repairs of FLT’s, including diagnostics, welding, electrics and hydraulics
  • Good understanding of, and ability to work from, service or parts manuals as well as drawings
  • Good knowledge of the use of workshop equipment and tools
  • A strong understanding of the importance of Health and Safety in the workplace

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Formal training in and experience of workshop procedures
  • FLT SMR experience and FLT driving licence
  • IT experience, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • NVQ level 1, 2,  and 3 or City and Guild in mechanical engineering
  • Strong recent workshop/field experience in a similar role
  • Experience in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
