Process Engineer

The Area Process Engineer will develop in the company as an expert in the manufacturing process of the area. They will manage the consistency and control of the process and will work with colleagues in the improvement of the process. They will assist in the achievement of key KPIs, maintain and develop safe and stable manufacturing processes and work with all available resources in a continually improving environment.

Salary: Competitive, Dependent on experience
Hours of work: 36.25 hours per week within a flexi-time system of 8am-6pm
Status: Full time, Permanent

Main tasks will include:

  • Defining the process recipes, control criteria and parameters critical for the successful manufacture of a product
  • Measuring and controlling the ongoing capability of the processes
  • Setting and holding all process recipe settings
  • Actively working within the team to achieve all departmental KPIs. (e.g. productivity, output, RFT, energy, costs, etc.)
  • Contributing the bottom up reporting from shifts and the running of daily area meetings, to follow up and resolve issues of the area
  • Keeping accurate data and records
  • Contributing to the health, safety and environmental activities for the manufacturing area, and to work within UK legal requirements and the Company EHS policies
  • Running improvement activities in the area to achieve and surpass business KPIs
  • Identifying and managing T&I projects to improve area performance and cost saving measures
  • Participating in the internal auditing processes for ISO standards
  • Identifying and maintaining training and skills competences for all employees and activities in the area
  • Standing in for the Area Operations Manager as required

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant experience in manufacturing processes with appropriate experiences of the processes involved
  • An Engineering, Electrical, Science, Technology or other Manufacturing related degree
  • Knowledge of process control, engineering principles, and lean manufacturing principles (Ideally trained to Lean six sigma green belt)
  • The ability to use computer systems (e.g. IBA, Office) to a high standard
  • The ability to extract meaningful data from computer systems on which to base actions
  • Confident, firm but diplomatic communication skills, able to support and defend facts and necessary actions and communicate effectively with people at all levels within the business and externally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to write clear and concise reports, policies, procedures etc.
  • The ability to understand complex technical issues and interactions of processes
  • The ability to understand and respond to legal and other regulatory requirements
