Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Working for the company Mechanical Maintenance Department, the purpose of this role is to ensure uninterrupted operation of the assets operating in the area by reducing unplanned downtime, equipment failures and breakdowns while ensuring all assets are maintained adequately to operate within their designed capabilities.

Reliability Engineer - Maintenance Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for meeting the operational equipment reliability level for the area of responsibility
  • Trouble shoot and resolve technical problems/issues in order to get assets back in running condition aiming at minimising disruption and cost
  • Responsible for maintenance or emergency repairs/inspections; ensure all documentation is delivered and recommendations or actions are followed up through to completion
  • Investigate and resolve all Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Mechanical related issues in the area of responsibility
  • Responsible for ensuring all engineering technicians’ tasks/jobs are logged to the CMMS system alongside with relevant information
  • Monitor departmental daily check list data to identify key asset and sub-asset parameters that are of concern and propose corrective actions/measures
  • Assist in conducting chronic and recurring Failure Elimination/Root Cause Analysis (RCA) studies as required; help implement, track and report the corrective actions with respect to its effectiveness in eliminating the problem(s)
  • Participate along with the maintenance team in the cold/hot commissioning and start up activities of assets and equipment
  • Collect data and documentation related to engineering maintenance from project contractor and vendors; review and check these are complete as per project/equipment contract specifications
  • Assist in the planning of Reliability Centralised Maintenance (RCM) by assessing asset and sub-asset criticality rankings, performing failure analysis and recommending mitigation strategies
  • Liaise with suppliers and contractors to organise emergency or planned repairs of assets/equipment in-house/in-situ or externally

Report Generation and Documentation

  • Assist in the implementation of maintenance work performance monitoring measures and key performance indicators (KPIs) and the development of Standard Operation Procedures for maintenance tasks and jobs
  • Assist in compiling mechanical maintenance and engineering reports as requested
  • Ensure events, failures and problems related to equipment reliability are logged onto the CMMS system

Reliability Engineer - General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain close contact with suppliers and contractors and keep up with the development of new products/services as well as technical/technological advancements in mechanical engineering, asset management and reliability
  • Contribute to the in-house development of the Computer Maintenance Management System
  • In support of the engineering function you will develop, document and maintain policies, procedures as well as associated guidelines for the design and maintenance of equipment within the Mechanical Engineering function as appropriate

Reliability Engineer - Qualifications Essential to the Role

  • HNC/HND or equivalent (e.g. NVQ/BTEC level 4) in Mechanical Engineering or relevant Engineering subject
  • 3-5 years of engineering experience in a similar position, field or industry
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering principles and practices demonstrated in a relevant industry in engineering and maintenance or reliability fields
  • Knowledgeable in the area of equipment lubricants and lubrication techniques
  • Ability to read and understand technical writing, specifications and interpret mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic drawings/diagrams and technical information
  • Ability to present technical findings in clear, objective, written report form
  • Experienced in the area of parts fabrication (e.g. machining, welding, turning, etc.)

  • Thos a DAYS position
  • Pension up to 7% contribution

Due to the nature of the business, the incumbent should be aware that under special circumstances (e.g., breakdowns, outage periods, etc.) longer working hours or working over weekends/holidays might be required to fulfil the duties of the role.
