Costing Officer

Costing Officer - Department - Accounts / Costing - Reports to - Cost & Management Accountant  We are recruiting for a new position, this is a role that will work in conjunction with the shop floor but will be a position in the Business and Administration team within the company

The focus will be on the following:

Costing Officer - Job Role and Core Tasks

  • Produce costings for new and existing products
  • Measure process times/down times/yields on the shop floor and record such times
  • Participate in all activities of Costing and; more widely the Accounts Department
  • Measure process times on the shop floor
  • Monitor scrap levels
  • Make sure these measurements are appropriately recorded
  • Update standard cost of stock codes when required (in ERP)
  • Gain familiarity with costing module of ERP system
  • Assist with Cost and Management Accounting tasks undertaken by the department. Stand in for colleagues within the department when required 

Costing Officer - General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fully understand cost concepts in a metal processing context
  • Apply costing methodology to Bridgnorth specific circumstances to create/maintain costing sheets for new and existing products
  • Liaise with colleagues in Operations/Planning departments to achieve above aim
  • Liaise with colleagues from Group as and when required
  • Make sure costings reconcile with reported profitability figures across the Business
  • Participate in the enhancement and fine-tuning of our Costing system, including monitoring Actual dimensions and weights output v Standard and amending where appropriate
  • Assist in the extension of our Costing system to include production areas hitherto not included (i.e. Casting)
  • Assist with stock-takes
  • Get acquainted with other report-building activities with the Accounts department; stand in for colleagues when required
  • Assist the Cost & Management Accounting Manager in their duties
  • Constantly develop own skill-set and be able to represent the Business professionally 

Costing Officer - Qualifications Essential to the role 

  • Familiarity with costing in an industrial context (not necessarily metal processing)
  • CIMA Part Qualified, or by experience
  • Although this job is office based, the holder needs to be comfortable to spend extended periods of time on the shop floor taking measurements


  • Experience with costing in a metal processing business or experience of working for a manufacturing company

Costing Officer - Package

  • 36.25 hours per week with flexitime – company rule specific
