Purchasing Apprentice - (Days)

We have an excellent opportunity for a Level 4 Purchasing Apprentice to join our Purchasing Department, reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager. The successful applicant will undertake their Level 4 CIPS and once qualified you will become a member of the Institute and will progress to become an Assistant Buyer if successful. The apprenticeship will be delivered remotely through online learning with some off site training as and when required. Length of training up to 2 years. Your normal place of work will be onsite at Bridgnorth. Bridgnorth Aluminium Ltd will provide you with opportunities to learn and grow into the role by training, coaching and mentoring you.

Purchasing Apprentice – The Role

  • Supporting the principal Buyer of the stock item system in the daily maintenance and running of the system
  • Logging and checking all import forms for the department
  • Adhere to deadlines set by management and/or the business and KPI reporting
  • Chasing overdue orders and resolving delivery issues
  • Supplier database management and setting up new vendors
  • Supporting the Purchasing department on other relevant duties as required whilst adhering to Purchasing Policies and Procedures
  • Learn and develop knowledge via CIPs training courses
  • Setting up new supplier accounts and sending out our documentation, additionally completing supplier’s documentation
  • Daily maintenance and running of the stock item system as advised by the Buyer
  • Chasing late orders for the department and ensuring firm delivery dates from suppliers - communicating dates back to the relevant parties
  • Resolving delivery issues with the Stores department and liaising with the necessary buyer, with supporting the buying team as required

 

Purchasing Apprentice - Skills and Qualities

  • Ability to liaise directly with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Able to communicate well verbally and in writing whist working in an organised manner
  • Adaptable and able to work pro-actively whilst multi-tasking, along with the ability to work in a team and independently
  • Excellent telephone manner, with strong organisational and communication skills
  • Meticulous with good time management, with being flexible, enthusiastic with a strong willingness to learn, we would like to see a keen interest in this area
  • Exceptional attention to detail

 

Purchasing Apprentice - Qualifications

  • Essential - Minimum of 5 GCSEs to include Math’s and English at Grade C+ / 5 or equivalent
  • Experience with office applications, e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint

 

Purchasing Apprentice - Package

  • Monday - Friday - 36.25 hours per week
