Purchasing in line with company requirements, securing the best value goods and services, whilst being mindful of where the products are coming from ensuring we source ethically and sustainably

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

       Obtaining quotes for items requested via the Requisition System - buying categories include civils, mechanical, heating, general consumables, tools, lab supplies and more.

       Evaluate quotes and negotiate prices and delivery where necessary

       Upload all quotes and documents to the requisitions and send for approval  

       Raising and issuing orders on approval of requisitions

       Attaching copies of all orders and acknowledgements to the requisition system to maintain paperless filing system

       Provide commercial assistance in contracts  

       Complete credit account applications  

       Resolve invoice queries

       Raise Payment requests  

       Manage and lead contracts which Purchasing are solely responsible for, including work wear and site drinking water supply

 

Skills Essential for the Role:

       A CIPS qualification, or working towards it, a relevant degree or demonstrable equivalent experience

 

       Relevant experience in a similar role

       Knowledge of purchasing and administrative procedures 

       A professional telephone manner

       Computer literacy with experience using Microsoft packages and in-house purchasing systems

       To be able to cope with a demanding fast paced environment under pressure from deadlines 

       Good communication skills

       Ability to work as part of a busy team
