SCBA 2018 Winner!

We are pleased to announce that Bridgnorth Aluminium Limited has won the Business in the Community award at the 2018 Shropshire Chamber Business Awards, the largest awards event in Shropshire. Over 200 Shropshire businesses applied for one or more of several award categories, with panels of judges determining four finalists for each category.

Our category, Business in the Community, was assessed on:

  • Relationships built up with residents, schools and/or community groups
  • Financial support through donations or sponsorships of local causes
  • ‘Keeping things local’ by working with Shropshire traders or suppliers
  • An environmentally-friendly approach promoted by bosses and adopted by staff
  • Turning work experience into employment opportunities for local people

Our winning application covered several key areas of our work within the local community, including the many financial donations we made in 2017-18 to support local causes, our work with local schools (financing learning courses for Castlefields Primary School, promoting STEM subjects at Bridgnorth Endowed and making a major donation to part-fund a disability hoist at Bridgnorth Endowed’s pool), our part in facilitating bespoke, on-site training for Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service crews, and our efforts to support local suppliers and adopt a sustainable approach across our business.

Thank you to the judges, including our category sponsor Aaron & Partners, for selecting our entry as the winner. Special thanks also to Charlotte Palmer-Hollinshead (Marketing Coordinator), Laura Coleman (HR Manager), Pete Davies (Fire Systems Supervisor) and Abbey Morris (Sustainability Manager) for writing the initial application and delivering the winning presentation. A final thank you to Ron Whitfield from Bridgnorth Rowing Club for making a guest appearance and speaking on behalf of a local cause benefitting from our support.
