Business Award Finalists

A year on from our Shropshire Chamber Business Award (2018) win, Bridgnorth Aluminium is pleased to be shortlisted as a Finalist in two 2019 categories: Best Manufacturer and Environmental Innovation.

The Shropshire Chamber Business Awards celebrate the best of Shropshire’s businesses. Last year, we were delighted to take home the Business in the Community Award.

Best Manufacturer:

This award is for a manufacturing company or plant that best demonstrates a continuous improvement to achieve world-class manufacturing standards.

Our application for short-listing covered:

• Our investment in a second Litho Centre, which increased our capability and capacity to roll aluminium to the thin gauges required by customers in the printing industry (as a result of our new cold-rolling and finishing capabilities, our EBITDA increased drastically from £7.4m, 2017, to £15m, 2018)
• Our close collaboration with customers and innovative alloy development practices
• Our dedicated Training & Development function, with three full-time members of staff

 
Environmental Innovation:

For environmentally aware businesses which have introduced or developed innovative environmental practices, processes or technology either for use within their own business or for the marketplace.

Our successful application for short-listing covered:

• Renewable Energy; approximately 40% of our electrical energy (at any one time) is sourced from Swancote Energy, a local anearobic digestion facility (anaerobic digestion is a natural process whereby bacteria break down organic material in the absence of air, yielding a biogas and digestate)
• Our bespoke enery management software which allows us to precisely monitor energy consumption across site (the insights from the system are used to inform and verify the success of environmental improvement projects)
• Our bespoke oil recovery system, designed by EIC in the US, which facilitates the efficient removal of oil from the deposit beneath our site

The Winner of each category will be announced at the Award Ceremony on Friday June 14th 2019.
